ARTIST BIO:
I am a Nebraska based two-dimensional artist exploring themes of the human condition and the examination of inner thoughts and feelings through drawing. Primarily working in graphite and ink, I investigate how feelings that are hard to verbalize can be visually depicted through recognizable imagery.
Many of my artworks reference the human form, specifically portraits and hands. I enjoy distorting these body parts to capture uneasy or complex scenes. I often reference my own self-portrait to illustrate my personal experience with the chosen theme. In my experience, portraits allow viewers to immediately recognize a feeling they have seen in themselves or others. My hope is that this allows viewers to imagine themselves in the scene and reflect the subject onto their own lives.
I am currently in my junior year at the University of Nebraska Omaha. I am pursuing a double degree in Studio Art and Art History. Growing up in the Midwest has taught me to appreciate the beauty of quiet and slow moments, and this experience is often reflected in my art. My art aims to encourage viewers to pause and further examine the art itself, as well as the world around them.
