MEET THE ARTIST:

Nancy Lepo has been drawing for as long as she can remember; it has always been the way she makes sense of the world. Early training in engineering drawing, architectural rendering, and the sciences sharpened her ability to visualize structure and strengthened her belief in drawing as a precise and powerful way to communicate. Over time, fascination with impressionism and black and white nature photography pulled her toward a more expressive, atmospheric approach, leading to the pen and ink pointillism technique she uses today. She added watercolor pencils in the past few years as another way to explore light, texture, and movement.

Lepo’s work appears in private collections nationwide, with a dedicated series installed at the Boys Town Residential Treatment Center in Omaha. Exhibition highlights include the Nebraska Artist Biennials (2019, 2021, and 2023), the PACE New Masters exhibitions (2022, 2023, and 2025), and a 2023 solo show at the Fred Simon Gallery. Honors include multiple Omaha Entertainment & Arts Award nominations and a 2011 solo exhibition at the Nebraska Governor’s Residence. She also completed a 2025 artist residency session at Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts in Nebraska City, Nebraska.

Lepo’s work is inspired by close observation—how form, shadow, and negative space reveal the quiet complexity of a subject. Whether she draws architecture, nature, or organic forms, Lepo is driven by the challenge of distilling an image to its essential lines while keeping its emotional presence intact.
