MEET THE ARTIST:
Steven Brown is an Iowa-based artist who has drawn for most of his life. From an early age, drawing became a place where he could lose himself and focus completely on the act of creating. As a student he began to recognize a natural ability for art and was awarded a scholarship for pottery during high school.
Steven later chose a different path, serving in the United States Air Force from 2001 to 2007. During those years and the time that followed, art took a back seat while he built a career and raised a family. He eventually earned an associate degree in graphic design and spent many years working with digital art on and off.
More recently, Steven felt a strong pull back toward traditional media. Over the past year he has returned to painting and graphite drawing, reconnecting with the mediums that first sparked his interest in art and continuing to develop his work through careful observation and realism.
