MEET THE ARTIST:
Mary Kingslan Gibilisco is a contemporary realist painter whose work draws on the traditions of European still life and figurative painting while exploring modern themes of perception, relationship, and symbolism. Her paintings combine carefully observed objects, figures, and constructed environments to create quiet moments that invite reflection on connection, identity, and the stories embedded within everyday forms.
Working with a restrained palette and deliberate composition, Kingslan Gibilisco references historical painting traditions while introducing subtle contemporary elements that shift meaning and perspective. Her work seeks to create a dialogue between past and present—between classical methods of seeing and the complexities of modern experience.
Kingslan Gibilisco lives and works in Omaha, Nebraska. Alongside her studio practice, she leads WhyArts, Inc., a nonprofit dedicated to expanding access to the arts for individuals living with disabilities and other underserved communities, reflecting her broader commitment to the transformative role of the arts in society.
