ARTIST BIO:
Betni Kalk is an artist/muralist. Her childhood was spent in Papua New Guinea, which contributed to her obsession with creating patterns and painting flora. She studied graphic design, painting, and drawing. Betni explores natural landscapes in search of references for abstraction, textures, patterns, flora, insects, and her landscapes. She has exhibited in numerous locations, including Milwaukee, Minneapolis, San Francisco, and Omaha. She has received grants and residencies around the U.S., including Sitka Center and San Juan National Forest. Her murals are both interior and exterior; clients include Google Fiber, the City of Council Bluffs, and Community Alliance. She currently lives in Omaha, NE, with her husband and two children. She is a tenured Associate Professor teaching graphic design at Creighton University.
