Marla Schoening brings over two decades of art educator experience, fostering problem-solving skills and encouraging creative risk-taking among her students. Believing in the transformative power of art, Marla extends her passion beyond the classroom through "HeART Therapy”, an art community dedicated to alleviating stress and facilitating healing through art making.
Marla embarked on a personal project: illustrating and publishing her mother's book, "The ABC Book of Marriage.” This served as a cathartic grief journey as she faced the heartbreaking challenges of her mother's Alzheimer's diagnosis. Marla’s most recent conceptual piece, “Odd Man Out,” is an assemblage of wine glasses displayed with a glass of ‘water’ (glass, resin, and hot glue). Using the premise of ‘Mom Wine Culture,’ she illustrates the pressures of certain social norms and the isolating impact it can have on those individuals who choose not to conform.
