ARTIST BIO:
Ann graduated from UNO in 1992 with a BFA with her thesis in painting. She is a lifelong artist whose work has been primarily focused on mediums of painting and drawing. More recently, however, she has included new tools of expression like ceramics and mixtures of non-traditional art materials such as cardboard, string, and hardware.
When not making art, Ann enjoys sharing it in a teaching capacity. She has taught a variety of classes, summer camps and workshops for kids and adults both privately and in the Council Bluffs schools, and currently works as the visiting artist in the Millard school district.
ACCOLADES:
Ann has shown her work in many galleries locally, including but not limited to 2 solo shows in 2019 at Lauritzen Gardens and Hillmer Gallery, 4 additional group shows in Omaha at Split Gallery and 3 shows at Hoff Family Arts and Culture Center in Council Bluffs since 2020. Ann was accepted into the Nebraska Biennial in September 2023 at Gallery 1516, and also into the Bemis Art Auction in October 2023 and 2024. Most recently her work was accepted into BOLD, a regional show in Omaha during April of this year and into Moon, a juried show opening June 6, 2024 at Moonrise Gallery in Elkhorn. She received a Relief Grant in 2020 from the Iowa Arts Council, and another project-driven grant through the American Rescue Fund and the Iowa Arts Council in 2021 which helped fund her large-scale ceramic project titled Hate Replacers.
