24.25" x 24.25" x.75"

ARTIST BIO

Marcia Joffe-Bouska’s mixed media artwork is vibrant with color, pattern and texture. Rich in symbolism and visually arresting, it is complex and layered with meaning. The natural world, offering inspiration and reference, also provides raw materials and “found objects”. She combines these with collage, text, imagery, and glass mosaic. Recent work uses “river” as a theme, playing off its varied associations and broad meanings to introduce more personal experiences, observations, and history within the context of her more universal investigations of relationship, meaning, and life itself.

Born in Chicago, Joffe-Bouska earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Art and Art Education from Clarke University, Dubuque, IA, and a Master of Arts Degree in Studio Art ( painting and drawing) from Northern Illinois University, DeKalb. She relocated to Council Bluffs, IA, and works from a home studio.

Her artwork has been exhibited throughout the country and is in corporate, public, and private collections. She has also taught art workshops and residencies to people of all ages, many through both the Iowa and Nebraska Arts Councils' Artists in Schools and Communities programs.
