ARTIST BIO
Tom Schultz, now retired, discovered a passion for woodworking several years ago after purchasing a wood lathe. What began as a new hobby quickly became an engaging and rewarding pursuit. Over time, Tom has crafted a wide range of functional and decorative items, including plates, bowls, pedestal bowls, dough bowls, centerpieces, candle holders, coffee tables, and end tables, with his list of creations continuing to grow.
Tom finds great pleasure in working with various types of wood, experimenting with different finishes and resins to bring out the natural beauty in each piece. While he acknowledges the craftsmanship involved in making these items, he credits Mother Nature and God for the inherent beauty found in the wood itself. With each project, Tom continues to find joy in the process and often reflects on how much he wishes he had taken up this hobby earlier in life.
ACCOLADES
16th Annual Juried Art Show (2023), another piece in the 17th Annual Juried Art Show (2024), at the Norfolk Arts Center, Norfolk, Nebraska. Each of these items was sold during the exhibitions. A photograph of my item was printed on the paper brochure for the show, and its image was included in an advertising email sent out by The Norfolk Arts Center, providing a sampling of the artwork in the exhibit (2023). My creations have been accepted to be on display/for sale in The Artist’s Corner (and in their online store) at the Norfolk Arts Center, June 2023 through current. My items have been on display/for sale at 3 small shops. I have participated in Farmers Markets and a few other festivals, showing/selling my woodworking.
